Newbie intro and music upload form question

Post by HogTime » Mon Jan 24, 2022 8:07 pm

I'm a newbie on Taxi, but been an amateur musician and songwriter for ages. I released my own CD over 10 years ago, with 11 originals, recorded in my home studio. Decided to make a late-in-life attempt to get one of my songs recorded by someone else or placed somewhere. Put 7 of my best on my home page here. Hope some listings come along asking for something that fits one of my songs. All done by me, except "Get Your Act Together" is a studio demo of one I wrote. I was interested in how much better it would sound versus my version. I found out by a lot! :)

One question: When uploading a song, there is the field "Tell us more about the genre". What usually goes in there?

Keep on writing!

Thanks,
Ralph

Hi Ralph.
Just listened through all 7 songs on your TAXI page. Good onya for getting that link set up correctly - many 'Newbies' fail at that the first time trying.
I found my-old-self able to relate to a lot of your lyrics. Great guitar pickin' on All Around Texas.

Welcome to these forums. Sorry I don't have an answer for your question.
Cheers,
Peter

Hey Marco! And welcome my friend.
A quick answer to your question.. the vast majority of my work is instrumental, so I list them as Instrumental in the genre section. Then in the Tell us more about the genre section, I usually get more specific, like Hiphop or SynthWave. This works well for me because Instrumental doesn't say much, but when Rock is selected, it kinda says more, but you can explain further ie. Grunge Rock etc.
Hope this answers your question!
Have a good one-

Peter: Wow, thanks for listening to all 7 of my songs!! Any really hot picking on my songs (like Texas) is not me. :)

Erik & Tom: Thanks for the info on the "Tell Us More" part of song upload. Kind of what I thought.
