Re: Blues Instrumental
Cool track! I'd bring the harmonica up some and probably the lead guitar too. I'm not sure... Is the volume on the lead guitar a bit lower late in the song when it comes back after around 1:30? (Just check)
I feel like when I listen to a lot of the tracks on here for this listing, they are very good, but not quite having the soul and intensity of the ref tracks. I'm feeling that somewhat here too. But I don't know how wide the net is on this listing. I'm not in love with the descending lead line from 00:13-00:19, it might just be me but I feel like I'd rather here more traditional blues licks.
Well done. Hope you get the nod and if you don't you still have one that will find a home, give or take a tweak or two. Good luck!
Casey

I'll check that guitar volume @ 1:30 because I think I notice that too
I'll pan the Harmonica in a bit more and bump the lead a bit
Great feedback my friend, thanks!

Re: Blues Instrumental
Nice track! I wasn't sure what the instrument at the ending is supposed to be? It sounds a little like a sax? If so, I would get a better sample in there. Maybe just bring the harmonica back instead? Also, the piano solo sounded a bit stiff to me. You have some triplets in there that are played kind of staccato and straight. I think a real blues pianist would play more expressively and would play licks. Usually that means some voicings in thirds or 6ths, not just single notes. Guitar, bass, drums and harmonica sound great to me.
Good luck with this one,
Vince

Hi Dave,
Nice track, I listened to the last revised track. The guitar lead is not standing out from the rest of the band.
Sorry but the lead guitar has to come out and grab you by the..you know what.

Re: Blues Instrumental *REVISED
Hey Andre!
Much respect to you my friend and fellow guitarist
I hear what you're saying but I'm going to go with the idea that I don't want to be too distracting from dialogue
This request is also looking for songs with the same references so I'm going with the idea that the instrumentals are going to be under dialogue
And I could be as I have been before, 100% wrong
I did have some compression on the leads, I have taken that off to hopefully add a little more "liveliness"
I will follow up here with the critique so that we all might benefit
Everyone has had really good feedback on this post and it's made the track much better
I really appreciate the honesty and useful suggestions
Thank you, Andre and good luck to everyone
God Bless

Re: Blues Instrumental *REVISED
Hey Man, very nice job on this track! I'm really digging the back and forth between the guitar and harmonica and how it builds up towards the end. Good luck with this!
Cheers,
Doug
