HELP! Looking for dramedy track samples

Post by cantilena » Mon May 02, 2022 6:21 am

Hey folks! I'm looking for some help. I recently had my first four dramedy tracks returned as being "too busy". I don't disagree with the screener; that's not my issue.

Then I attempted to work on a "light tension" cue, also intended for a reality TV listing, but didn't really know where to start.

Here's my problem: I don't have any samples from these shows that don't have dialogue!! I listen to the excerpts from the shows linked to in the listings, but I can barely hear the music (I mean, it's supposed to be in the background, right?)

Does anyone know where I can find some actual tracks that were either forwarded from previous dramedy listings, or were used in actual shows? I've checked out a few music libraries, but couldn't find anything that sounded similar to what's being asked for in recent listings.

Thanks a lot for your help!! I need to get more familiar with these particular styles, and for me it helps a LOT to be able to hear a variety of tracks in a similar style.

Google is your friend. Search "Production Music Dramedy" without the quotes. This turned up: https://www.universalproductionmusic.co ... /dramedy-2

These might not exactly match a given listing but give you a very good idea what good dramedy cues are like.

Good luck!

I noticed one of my own Dramedy tracks on Spotify a little while ago and it turns out the whole album is there.

https://open.spotify.com/album/0I5dxrB4 ... sMHOAI3Rgg

It should be a good reference as it's a label from a Taxi freindly publisher, and it also features tracks by Dean Krippaehne ( writer of the reccommded "demystifiying" pair of books ) and also I noticed Dave Kropf was on it too who runs the 52 cues Youtube channel and website.

This article has some snippets from "Real Housewives" with no dialogue.

Get one or both of these books from Taxi veterans and successful composers. Both have examples and tutorials you can learn from.
