Texas Country

I think this has the feel for this listing but does it have the right lyric content?

1970's Style CLASSIC-Sounding TEXAS COUNTRY SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed for a Direct-to-Music Supervisor Placement in an Indie Feature Film.

TAXI doesn't normally take requests for music for Indie Films unless there is a sync fee paid to the music creators. If there are any sync fees paid for this project, they will likely be on the smaller side (we would guesstimate less than $1,000), with most of the income earned via P.R.O. royalties paid down the road. However, this request comes from an excellent Music Supervisor who has a history of using music from TAXI's members. We think this is a great chance to (possibly) make some money upfront; and maybe, more importantly, it's an opportunity for this extremely busy Music Supervisor to get to know you and your music (and at the very least, make some performance income when the film streams or goes to cable).

The Music Supervisor is searching high and low for Songs in the general wheelhouse of the following references we got directly from them:

"A Good Hearted Woman" by Waylon Jennings & Willie Nelson

"Lookin’ For Love” by Johnny Lee

“Just Good Ol’ Boys” by Moe Bandy & Joe Stampley

About the Movie: This is a heart-warming story about overcoming the odds, and learning that while love, respect, and faith can come in different forms, they will always prevail in the end.

NOTE: You can submit high-quality vintage recordings (recorded back in the day), or if you have recently recorded Songs in the general production style of the references that capture the authentic 1970's sound needed, they would love to hear those as well!

Send them original, Classic-Sounding Country Songs that could have been found playing on local Texas Country radio stations in the 1970's! Your submissions should have sing-along melodies, memorable choruses, well-crafted lyrics, and plenty of Classic Country charm. Traditional, era-appropriate Country instrumentation – like acoustic guitars, pedal steel, etc. – will suit your submissions best. Please be sure your production is polished and generally competitive with the references (and others like them). If you choose to use any virtual instruments or sounds, please be sure they are high-quality and consistent with the kinds of instrumentation that would have been heard in the 1970's. Top your submissions off with compelling, well-performed vocals and you might just have what this Supervisor is after!

I suggest you post your lyrics here so that people don't need to listen to the entire song in order to answer your question. Tons of great lyricists here, you will certainly get a good answer.

Hi, Kara...your demo has the sound purty good. The referenced songs have male vocals.

As for the lyrics...Lookin' for Love has that classic hook/couplet. Very few country songs now or then can boast that. The Waylon lyric couldn't have taken more than 15 minutes to write, the other one, maybe 30. They're
corny and simplistic...70s country in a nutshell.

This is a hard thing to judge...there's nothing to aim for.
Who writes the best corny tune? A male vocal with a deep, resonant voice would be my only suggestion.

Other than that, good luck with it.

There's a panning issue at 2:14 - :16 you might want to look at. It fixes itself, so maybe there's an automation curve out of place? Drums don't seem affected, but vocal definitely is.

Otherwise, this is a great track, good luck!

Moves along nicely. Great voice. No real up and downs to break it up a bit tho. From 52-56 sec something funky going on with the chords there.
Looking at the top line of the track seems pretty compressed? good stuff
Thankfully, while growing old is compulsory, growing up remains optional!

I think it's just a touch too modern. The reference tracks have a very specific sonic element to them that yours doesn't. I know the music sup here and there will be lots of competition.
