I've had a lot of tension placements, I think you are on the right track. The melody is repetitive and needs more space. Start with just the first two bars of the melody, give the piece time to breathe and develop. Introduce just a portion of the melody... then four bars without any melody. Then in the next phrase maybe add a couple more notes. Four bars without. Slowly develop it over time. I suggest inserting an edit point or two in there as well.
Also, check the velocity on the piano lead, there are some notes that jump out a little bit, the piano could be lowered a bit in general, perhaps with some more reverb.
The ending just sort of happens, it sounded to me like the track just stopped without any intention of stopping. No build, no solid downbeat. Perhaps add a quiet impact on the last downbeat to create a good solid button ending.
You are on the right track!
