Just booked a room at the Westin. Driving from WA instead of flying this time. My husband Matt, who is a photographer, will be my guest. We last attended the road rally in 2018 and it was amazing!! Looking forward to it, see you there

That's great! Hope to meet you! Wear a dot on your badge (scroll up some posts).
Do you know if you can book the hotel with the Taxi rally discount rate yet?

Hi Casey, the dot is a great idea, I will be sure to do that! Not sure about the discount rate, I booked reservation through travelocity, and haven't spoken with anyone at the hotel.

I just checked with Westin, they don't have the Taxi rate yet. Understandable, it's long in advance. I made a reservation anyway and I'll change it to the Taxi rate later.

Just did likewise yesterday. TBH - it will surprise me if the conditions will be favorable to actually have the in-person event.
...we shall see.
I wonder if there's a PLAN B prepared in case of developments that cause a cancellation of it being held at The Westin.

There is always a PLAN B I'm sure in case developments (e.g. Covid) preclude a live event. Last I heard, PLAN B was your house.
I'm sure ML and the gang as thought of a virtual event contingency. That being said, let's all be optimistic! Denny's, here we come!

I reserved a room at the regular rate today because bookingonline couldn't reach the hotel. She did give me the number directly to the hotel so I can change my reservation when I get ahold of them.
YAY! My first RR.

I will be booking flights from the UK for November, I only joined a couple of weeks ago so very new to all this! I have a few questions if someone wouldn't mind clarifying
1. Is the Rally always on at the Westin and is this the Westin Bonaventure? I might stay for a bit longer and book an Air BnB.
2. Will there be parking available at the hotel?
3. Do you know when you can register for it? I clicked on the register button but it just takes me back to my profile page
Many thanks!

Hi,
Yes, its always at the Westin LAX, which is here
https://thewestinlosangelesairport.reservationstays.com
I believe parking is available but its probably not cheap
I'm not sure about when you can register, but keep an eye on Taxi announcements and this forum. If you want a room at the hotel grab one as soon as you can get the discount rate because they go quickly.
Just for info (although a lot will have changed since my 2017 rally trip) the best air fares I found were Air New Zealand from Heathrow - a lot lower than BA.

Graham (UK). Still composing a little faster than decomposing, and 100% HI.

Hi Lindsay
The rally is at the Westin Los Angeles Airport:
https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/l ... /overview/
There is parking at the hotel for a daily fee. Taxi Rally attendees get a discount on that but it's still a bit pricey. There is a discounted hotel rate for the Taxi Rally but it's too soon to get that rate if you reserve now. Keep an eye on your Taxi emails.
It's a bit too soon for Taxi to start registrations. Emails will go out when they are available.
PS You don't need to rent a car at the airport if you are first going to the rally when you get to LA. There is a free shuttle from the airport to the hotel. Then you won't have to worry about paying for parking. If you stay additional days and want a car, better to rent one then. There are car rental places nearby, I think one practically next door. The hotel concierge could help you. Keep in mind that since Covid, car rentals have been tough to get and/or much more expensive. So you'd have to look into what's the best way to go.
Hope to see you there!
Casey
