Re: Too heavy? Too much solo?
I created this video a couple of months ago to help composers understand what an edit point is.

Yes. An edit point is an actual section of silence where an editor can end or start a cue. You can see them in wave form view. It can be a single beat, it can be an entire measure, it depends on the genre and tempo and instrumentation. No sustained notes or reverb through it, all noise has to stop naturally (as in not sounding forced or abrupt).

Thanks for that clarification Paulie, I appreciate it.

Re: Too heavy? Too much solo?
Great video, that's very helpful, thank you. I guess speaking more generally.. edit points are more desired for film/tv cues, and are less desired/needed when asking for instrumentals, would you say that's correct?Paulie wrote: ↑Sat Jun 04, 2022 8:18 amI created this video a couple of months ago to help composers understand what an edit point is.

When I made this track, I thought I had enough "edit points", as in spots where things really died down. But I guess from what you're saying, I actually didn't have any real edit points at all....? https://www.taxi.com/members/ocDl4_2KTS ... -lie-to-me
And that dispatch listing specifically requested edit points, so that may be a reason to return it I suppose

Yeah, edit points are very specific. They are actually spaces in the music where editors can break the track easily.
