This is very interesting - agree with all posted.
Depends on how you see it personally - artist vs artisan thing

Production music definitely has "artists"
e.g. I would say Matt Vander Boegh does cues that are very cool pieces of music.

And I think that is the bar worth aiming for - i.e. where the cue is also a bit of art.
The business has a volume angle as well so it's not a simple goal.

Hey, thanks for your thoughts. I like "artist vs artisan", good way to put it... I'll continue to avoid music that makes me feel like nails on chalkboards, but will also try to branch out more into music I don't know as well, seems like a good balanced approach
