Question about a forward

Post by davidr » Fri Jul 15, 2022 10:44 am

A year after a forward, I got a request from a music library to make some submissions. They ask for the full instrumental cues (about 2 minutes) and 30-second versions, as well.
All of my cues start out rather soft, repeating the themes as they gradually build up in intensity.
My question is, should the 30-second versions be taken from near the beginning of the cues, when they are soft in volume, or from the end, where they are most intense?
Thank you!

Hi, I'd say take them from the end. The end section will have a proper composed ending, which is far more useful than an uncomposed stop 30s from the start of your track. Of course, you'll need to make the 30s version start cleanly and musically, and be exactly 30s long, but there's always a way of doing that.
Good luck! :)
Graham (UK). Still composing a little faster than decomposing, and 100% HI.
