For inspiring bringing this one from the old files - and updating - ready for music:
Stones From The River
(peter a. rahill)

Stones from the river
Mark the path I've trod
Between walls of water
Made by the hand of God

Let me mark this special day
When a safe path was made for me
There God, The Almighty, made a way
Where once flowed a mighty sea

Twelve stones were set in place
A monument from the river’s floor
Marks the spot where rescue came
And I was held captive no more

I wonder if the time will come
When I get to see those stones again
That mark the spot where rescue came
And I’ll get to shout my praise to Him!

Hi Peter, Enjoyed reading your lyrics. Just a thought: first section seems like your chorus; all others appear to be verses. If so, I tried first line of chorus with sort of a Folk / Country vibe on my mountain dulcimer. Notes in order of first line: B, B, A, B, F#. Again, just a thought.

Peter, I know this is zombie thread, but I thought I'd remark on it anyway.

I agree with Jan, the first stanza aught to stand as a chorus (not the least because it has the title in it ;) ). The next verse then becomes the first verse, and you open with the line "Let me mark this special day" which in my mind really prepares the listener to hear the story that you're telling. Genius! Please keep working on this!

Thanks, Alan -
it's been sitting on the shelf a long time - as other projects keep finding their way ahead of this one, onto my plate...
which is currently satisfyingly busy & full.
I think Jan was doing something with it - but I like your idea for the structure.
Might've just stirred me to resurrect this one... from the river's floor, so to speak.
