Yeah, I never knew how important endings are.. that's one area I've been focusing on improving. I always thought the beginning was more important and used more, until I paid attention and realized most commercials use the actual ending, not just ending the commercial by cutting the track on the one at some spot in the middle of the cue. Endings are hugely important!

Great video. Should be required viewing! It's easy to forget or not know that decisions on whether to consider using your track are made in the first 5-10 seconds of it. Reel them in very early or it's "click", next track. Also, I've had placements where the editor merged an early part of the track with the ending to fit 20-30 secs of scene. Much of this was dumb luck way back but it taught me things about Film/TV music for the future. Like don't change keys and always end the track on the same chord/note that it started on. Always play your track at low volume to see it any instruments jump out such that they would interfere with dialog.

I never get tired of watching video clips with great advice. It's much quicker than reading all of the books I own. A few tips a day are great for me...then I can apply them.
Always thought edits points should have complete DEAD space... but the more I learn, it appears they can be fine with a quick fade out and a rebuild upward or new start with NO DEAD SPACE into "B" etc. Let the editor do the volume changes. Correct me if I'm wrong.
