Thanks Mark, will do so with tunesat. But honestly, the paid planes are crazy expensive on tunesat!!! Who the heck is using that?
I know one of the big libraries I work with pay for it and sent the data to the PRO who accept it as proof of broadcast, I don't think I know any individual composers that aren't just on the free plan

When I was at the PRS day I spoke to one of the high ups and he said that PRS had spoken to Tunesat in the past but it was too expensive

There are some workarounds/hacks to get the most out of a free account.

My 2nd year in TAXI has seen substantially more forwards than last year. Signed music and started relationships with 2 libraries.

Goals for 2023, are to compose and produce at a higher level than I did this year. Get more forwards in 2023 than 2022, sign more music to libraries, and hopefully get my first placements.

Great Idea !

Highlights in 2022

Got into 3 new libraries one of which I am especially grateful for as it is a really great place to be and grow.
Signed new tracks in new genres.
A batch from these signed tracks gave me the opportunity to work with the great Greg Carozza who was overseeing the album.
Had my first Taxi song collab with YOU Casey - thanks again for that :)
Got into Taxi's top 10 list in September :)
Had fun recording an 80s type guitar solo for an indie video game trailer.
Had my first ever placement :)
Took the plunge and left my day job to focus 100% on music :ugeek: Mainly surviving through live gigs and side projects but mentally has been a HUGEEEE boost which is helping a lot on the production/composing side.
Survived my first year of marriage :D Hey this was no small feat!!!

Goals for 2023

Improve my production skills so that I can pump out more tracks while keeping the quality to the best of my abilities.
Get more placements of course:)
Finding more opportunities for upfront payment probably outside of the sync world.
Build new connections and strengthening existing ones.
Try to be more present here in the forums.
I love video games so it is always a dream of mine to get my music in there.
Attend the road rally if my financial status permits.

That should be all if nothing slipped my mind:)
Thanks to all of you who in some way or another made my life better or gave me the opportunity to make a difference in theirs during 2022.

Wishing you and your families a peaceful holiday season.

Take Care
Owen

Hi
Here is my 2022 summary.

I find it more and more interesting the longer I'm in this with all the various ways I'm getting paid. My statements are interesting and varied and growing but still it's still a ridiculously low income.

Reading my BMI statements is so fascinating. I'm getting payments for:
film,
cinema ( what is the difference?), general radio in Hong Kong!?
tiny payments for placements called "various"
internet
Television (of course!)

My work is being used almost exclusively in Western and Eastern Europe and primarily in Documentaries and docuseries.
I am very proud to say one of my tracks was used on a docuseries on National Geographic Channel!

Here is the thing though. I still have VERY FEW pieces released. The publishers I'm with seem to have a bugger of a backlog.
But out of those about 65% of them have been used. So I'm thinking when the backlog is released I'll be getting many more hits.
And as I produce more, my percentage of success should get me going pretty good in the next few years.

All for now-still chugging along and still loving it.

Happy New Year!

Susan

2022 Accomplishments:
  • Got 150+ tracks signed by libraries. This is down quite a bit from my output the past three years, normally I'm around 225 tracks for the year.
  • Got my first two movie placements, the first from a two year old Christmas string quartet I sent to the first library connection I made during my first Rally. It got me my name in the ending credits of the new Christmas movie "Spirited" starring Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds. The second placement is in a soon to be released movie titled "Moving On" starring Jane Fonda and Lilly Tomlin (a classic jazz quartet featuring tenor sax).
  • Established a new library relationship thanks to a Taxi forward.
  • Spent far too much on software during Black Friday.
  • Attended the Rally, which was so wonderful after the hiatus.
2023 Goals:
  • Enter the world of epic sports orchestral hip hop.
  • Buy a new Mac to replace my eight year old Mac Mini.
  • Do more re-imagined cover songs with vocalists.
  • Get signed by an ad-focused library.
  • Leap into the five-figure royalty statement world (stretch goal)
  • (oh yeah... find a job, since I unexpectedly lost mine last month)

Great post, Casey, and thread!

2022:

-I also had some YnR placements. 7 total, 2 songs.

-Attended my first Road Rally.

-Signed roughly 20 tracks to 2 different libraries.

2023:

-Hope to up those totals, and get better at engineering and doing my own drums when needed.
