Need feedback on a return

Post by myk247365 » Mon Jan 16, 2023 4:25 pm

Here's the description:

ORCHESTRAL CINEMATIC UNDERSCORE INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a High-End International Music Library that's constantly landing tons of huge placements on Hit TV shows, Movie Trailers, and Films!

IMPORTANT NOTE: This Company is BRAND NEW to requesting music from TAXI, so chances are you don’t have any material in their catalog yet! This is an awesome opportunity to create a new outlet for your music and begin a new relationship with this Top-Tier company!

This Library is searching for Instrumentals in the general wheelhouse of the following examples:

"Come Back to Us" by Thomas Newman https://youtu.be/UOSEq1n8bYg

Trulicity | Night Shift https://youtu.be/rPO5zeFYnKw

"Reforestation" by Ilan Eshkeri https://youtu.be/IjxQzwOBsBo

Send them well-composed Cinematic Instrumentals that could work well as underscore for a variety of scenes. Inviting motifs, excellent arrangements, and top-notch Orchestral instrumentation are all needed for this request. Some additional instrumentation (like piano or guitar) is fine to include, as well. Your submissions can range from uplifting to somber to just about anywhere in between! Just be sure to stick with one mood per piece to maintain cohesion. Craft your pieces around a central motif and layer instrumentation in and out as they progress to create forward motion, interest, and dynamics. Please be sure your production is polished and any virtual instruments or samples you use are high-quality and state-of-the-art.

All submissions should be 2 minutes to 3:30 minutes in length, give or take, and have non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings. Do NOT copy the referenced artist or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, texture, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

Here's my submission:

Here's the feedback:
Great track length and instrumentation. Thank you for this Michael.
The mix sounds too soft/weak. Maybe try mastering this and really glue all the instruments together. I also think we have to keep the mood cohesive.
Production could be better. And, the listing says, "Just be sure to stick with one mood per piece to maintain cohesion. Craft your pieces around a central motif and layer instrumentation in and out as they progress to create forward motion, interest, and dynamics.”

Question:
What is not "Broadcast Quality" about the track? Is it just the overall volume, or something else?

Any other advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Michael

Beautiful music, wonderful writing here. It is a "little" quiet, but not bad in my opinion. The track does sound a little dry, I would prefer to hear some more reverb, perhaps a hall of some sort to bring it all together. The percussion sounds a little far away.

Then the track seems to change and get worse in musical around 1:37. You make a departure that seems unrelated and changes the mood. I was very much enjoying the piece until that change. Then the ending is very anti-climactic and abrupt. Perhaps you can cut from 1:37 to the end, and repeat/develop the theme that starts around 1:07. That section is truly gorgeous, I would like to hear more of that.
