Dear YouTubers & PodCasters

Post by jdstamper » Tue Mar 28, 2023 8:47 am

Dear YouTubers & PodCasters,

Everyday I watch / listen to at least 1 video about music production, from very professional accomplished producers, and they are great!

But 1 suggestion ... Please make sure you pay attention to your levels. Very often it happens that the voiceover & music levels are way out of whack.

The audience doesn't have time to ride the fader constantly adjusting the levels.

Taxi Webcasts are a great example of how to get it right!

Thank you sincerely (to ALL music instructional casters) for the time and effort you put into your videos, they are inspirational!

Good call. Especially annoying are great voice overs talking about composition and voicing with hardly heard piano.

Very good point. As a fledgling YouTuber myself I try to get things working properly. I've learned to always to a test recording of 15-20 seconds playing, talking while playing and just talking to make sure all levels are right. And video editing software lets you change levels after recording, so it should not be a problem. I've learned that audio quality actually matters more than video quality to most viewers.

My channel, if anyone cares... :)
