300 Cues Signed in 2 Years.

Post by jefflaplante » Fri Mar 31, 2023 12:46 pm

Hit a milestone this week. I now have 300 cues signed to 13 different libraries...all since January 2021...so just over 2 years. Most of this is due to relationships created through Taxi forwards.
New goal for the year is 500 cues signed and 15 libraries by the end of 2023. Long term goal = 1000 cues signed to 24 libraries by the end of 2025. All this is dependent on whether AI derails this career path completely, which unfortunately, is highly possible.

That's massive Jeff, congrats on your progress !

Now you've learned to consistently produce high quality licenasble music at a good pace I think the most important thing is to A/B compare those libraries against each other ( i.e. via Tunesat ) and see which ones are getting you the most placements relative to the number of signed tracks.

As you may know from my own yearly updates, the first few hundred tracks I signed across my first 10 or so libraries didn't really yield much of a return- but once I found my "best " publisher a couple of years ago the placements started stacking up and cues often air within weeks of them being accepted instead of waiting months & years like other publsihers. It was only via a lucky co-write that I stumbled the library that works well for me but the difference has been huge and 100 or tracks have have generated 10x the placements of the 400 signed tracks combined elsewhere.

So I guess I am saying don't aim to sign X number of cues - Aim to get X number of placements by dilligently benchmarking your libraries against eacher other. Best of luck with it !
