Belated April Fool's?
That is what I thought when I saw 16 (!) detections of my quirky Middle Eastern tune "Cheeky Camel" popping up in my Tunesat, dated April 1st. I soon realised they used my piece in an ad that was run across a multitude of different channels, and even multiple times on the same channel.
I have been wondering whether there may be a sync fee, too

Congrat to you.
Is it an Ad ( for a product ) or is it a Promo ( for an upcomig TV show ) - You can usually tell by listening
My expererience of picking up multiple detections in both circumstances on several occasions was that I ended up with nothing - so don't hold your breath but cross everything and hope whatever it is qualifies for some sort of payment.

Re: Belated April Fool's?
I conjecture it might be the former, there is no dialogue in the audio detection, only sound effects, in which case it could be anything really. Hopefully something will come out of thatcosmicdolphin wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 6:50 amCongrat to you.

Is it the exact length of an Ad ? 30 or 15s ?superkons wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 5:51 amI conjecture it might be the former, there is no dialogue in the audio detection, only sound effects, in which case it could be anything really. Re: Belated April Fool's?
About 4 years ago I had 32 tunesat detections on MTV and a some sister channels over a few days - each 15secs long of a promo for some up coming show/event at the w/e.
Never saw any royalties for it.
Another similar promo about a year later did pay out and at levels that suggested the non paying spot should have been at least $500 (the one that paid was something like 6 x 10s vs 32 vs 15s and the former paid about $150 (est as I see the payout in £)
So good job getting the spot and I hope you get paid - but it seems the cue sheets for these spots aren't reliable

I keep hearing to not hold my hopes high, so I suppose we will see what comes in, if anything at all comes in, in terms of royalties. Thank you for sharing your story

Re: Belated April Fool's?
Just thought I would give an update about this particular placement: after 1 month, Tunesat ended up detecting around 970 usages of that cue of mine, so I assumed that the ad was run for 1 month as I have not seen any more new detections after the 1st of May.
Well, I am not certain as to how all those usages will amount to in terms of royalties, hopefully I will not have to wait too long to find out

Why is this even legal?? I hope Marco will see something from his 970 detections.
