'80s ROCK INSTRUMENTAL - Feedback appreciated

Post by BradGray » Sun Jun 25, 2023 5:48 am

Hey All,

I've been working on the following listing for the 80s rock instrumental: John Carpenter's Vampires

80s ROCK INSTRUMENTALS are needed for an (up to) $500, Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement in an upcoming Independent Feature Film that's currently in post-production!

NOTABLE: This film's Producer used a bunch of TAXI members' music in his last (few) films, and loved what he found so much that he has come back for more!

This Music Supervisor is on the hunt for Mid-Tempo Instrumentals that could work as a replacement for "Stake and Burn," which was heard in John Carpenter's film, Vampires. They need to find something in the general ballpark of "Stake and Burn," to replace it.

"Stake and Burn" by John Carpenter

They're NOT looking for clones or soundalikes! Similar tempo, style, and overall vibe? Yes. Clones? No!

Quoting the Music Supervisor: "We need an instrumental rock track a la a John Carpenter soundtrack. Should have an '80s sound and plodding tempo. Going to hunt witches and need to gear up? This is the song for that."

Please submit top-notch '80s style Rock Instrumentals that could sound at home on a John Carpenter soundtrack. Heavy electric guitars, tension-building motifs, plodding grooves, and solid arrangements are all needed for this request. Rock instrumentation in the general wheelhouse of the references will suit your submissions best. Please be sure your productions, and any virtual sounds or samples you use may choose to use are of high quality, well-balanced, and era-appropriate.

Your submissions should be about 2 to 3 minutes in length, give or take. Do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of any other artists’ music, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed. Era-appropriate Broadcast Quality will work for vintage recordings.

The license fee for this placement is (up to) $500, depending on the ultimate use. This is a Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement, so you’ll keep 100% ownership of your Copyright and Master Recordings, plus you’ll also get 100% of the License Fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control your Copyright and Master Recordings to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit as many Instrumentals as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT) on Sunday, June 25th, 2023. TAXI # S230625RN

I've created the following so far: On The Fire

I think I've captured the vibe, sound, and arrangement.

Questions:
1) Is there enough in there? Exciting enough for the full ride? I can always edit further, or look to add an additional sound or element?
2) Sound and production - is it on par, or do I need to tailor to the reference further?
2) Anything standing out as missing, or could help step it up a notch?

For clarity, it's a quick mix of the track. I've tried to balance and edit as I go, but want to make sure the arrangement and parts were solid, before focusing on the final mix.

Thanks!
BWG
