Indie Folk - Feedback Request 2

Post by johnnyrowing » Mon Oct 02, 2023 10:28 am

I would appreciate some feedback/thoughts on a couple of tracks that I am thinking of submitting to the current Indie Folk Listing that closes on the 11th of October.

Here is the Second track - Charts and Maps
https://www.taxi.com/members/Ef77nz5GSm ... s-and-maps

Ooh

And when you feel in the dark sitting emotionless
Lacking the will to be known (Go Home)
Eyes with a cataract skin
Seeing but not like it is
Have you forgotten - you can (Go home)
Ooh (Come home)

Charts and Maps - They will guide you back
To where you have come from
You can’t be permanently stuck in stone

When you feel trapped
Just look back at charts and maps
Ooh (Come home) Ooh - Ooh
(Mark that)

Every lesson with
A misadventure begins
We just need to learn that
Every shadow has proof of the sun
and here it comes

Charts and Maps - They will guide you back
To where you have come from
You can’t be permanently stuck in stone

When you feel trapped
Just look back at charts and maps
(Come home) Ooh - Ooh - Ooh

Johnny,
listening to the refs and looking at the listing, I get that they want "lots of feel-good, emotionally upbeat energy". I'm not hearing the same tempo and driving rhythms that the refs possess, in your song. On that basis, I'd think it would be a return. Hope that helps!

Hey Johnny, I would agree with Alan on this one. The listing calls for mid to up tempo songs, and this is quite slow and mellow. Not a bad tune, but For this listing, I'd submit something more upbeat, or produce an up-tempo version of this tune. Nice work and good luck!

Thanks Alan and Douglas. I won't submit this one to that listing. :)
