Listings that use trailers for references but not requesting trailer cues?

Post by mkirbymusic » Mon Oct 23, 2023 3:16 pm

I have noticed this a couple of times recently and am wondering if anyone can clear this up.

Currently, there are two listings (below) that are not requesting Trailer Instrumentals, but all of the references are Trailers. Would it be safe to assume then that we should use the references for the usual (sound, texture, dynamics) but don't need to craft our cues in the "three act" structure?

Lots of DARK, INDUSTRIAL ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a Music Licensing company that's landed some great placements for TAXI members.
This company is on the lookout for a bunch of Instrumentals in the general stylistic ballpark of the following references:

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Trailer
NO ONE WILL SAVE YOU Trailer
ALIEN INVASION Trailer

TAXI # S231110RT

Lots of EPIC ORCHESTRAL-HYBRID INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a Music Licensing company that's landed some great placements for TAXI members.
This company is on the lookout for a bunch of Instrumentals in the general stylistic ballpark of the following references:

NAPOLEON Trailer
All Quiet on the Western Front Trailer
THE PENGUIN Trailer

TAXI # D231107ST

That would be my take on it. If they were looking for that "three act" thing, the listing would almost definitely say so. Good luck! :D

Best,
:-) Casey

Yes I would say that's a fairly safe assumption although I typically tend to stay close to the 3 act structure for that type of cue anyway as it's a good way of building momentum and keeping things interesting.
