Uploaded Song - Edit Question

Post by Andreuz » Tue Oct 31, 2023 6:39 am

Hello newbie here -

If I have already uploaded a song and submitted it to a listing that has still not ended... is it possible to replace an uploaded song that has already been submitted to a listing?
I discovered something I want to edit in the song.

If this is possible (without paying another $5 fee), can you please outline the process.

Thanks in advance !!

yes, you can edit the existing submission by replacing the file without paying another submission fee.

however, there is a chance that it can be screened before the deadline and theres no way to tell if thats happened.

I think you have to make the edit in your list of pending submissions and do the re-upload there as well as on your song page. If there's no "Edit" link by the song in your pending list, it's too late. And, as Owen said, even if the system allows you to re-upload, there is no guarantee that the screener won't already have listened to the original. It's not a practice to rely on.

Important point to note, mentioned above, is that in order to update the submission you must go to the submission edit page (if still available) and upload from your PC directly to the submission form. I found out the hard way that replacing the file on my member page did NOT automatically update the submission. It's kind of counter-intuitive considering that you have to upload a track to your member page and then link when making the original submission...

Thanks for the responses...

This edit I made to a music track was made and re-uploaded several days before the listing had ended. So why would the screener have already listened / screened it ?
I thought that was done 4 to 5 weeks after that listing has ended.

This brings up another question. What does it actually mean when the "Edit" under Submissions Pending Review is no longer there even before the the listing ends ?

Either way, this will not be a practice for me to re-upload songs moving forward.

The Screeners are able to start listening as soon as your track is submitted. Most of them have jobs in the music industry and not only working for Taxi so their schedule will affect how soon ( oe not ) they may get to screening your track.

I'm sure we've all edited submissions here, but the lesson here is that when you send music to a music library or any other client beyond Taxi's cosseted environment it should already be bullet-proof. Its good to get into the habit of standing by the work that you release, and if the client request edits at least it's their choice.

If the Edit button is no longer there, your submission is too far into the process to be edited.
