Piano Driven Horror Critique TAXI # S231126PH

Post by bmoBauhaus » Tue Nov 21, 2023 1:24 pm

Hi Y'all,

Looking for any critiques on this. Based on the references they sent, it sounds like the motion is a little more background/static as opposed to building energy and dramatic hit points. Open to thoughts on this but I tried to follow the reference tracks in this regard. Thanks in advance!

Here is my track:

Here is the listing:
PIANO-DRIVEN HORROR INSTRUMENTALS and/or INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a European Music Licensing Company with lots of Film/TV placements. They need a bunch of great new tracks to meet increased demand!

This Company is searching for Instrumentals and/or Cues that could be found on a playlist with the following references and others like them:

"Storytime" by Myuu

"Horror Piano, No. 5 - Sirens of Death" by James Michael Stevens

"Ghost In The Mirror" by Nox Arcana

Please submit top-tier Piano Instrumentals and/or Cues that sound like they could be heard playing during a Horror Film! Your submissions should have spooky and tense motifs, and dynamic arrangements with forward motion and interest. Instrumentation that's in the general stylistic wheelhouse as the references will work best (strings, bells, etc.), as long as Piano is the primary lead instrument. Please make sure your productions are polished, and that any virtual instruments or samples you use are high quality and not dated-sounding.

Your submissions should be roughly 90 Seconds long for Cues, and about 2 to 4 minutes long for Instrumentals, give or take. Non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings will work best. Please do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, and tone. Do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of any other artists’ music, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed.

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so please be sure the Instrumentals and/or Cues you pitch for this opportunity are NOT already signed with any other Companies or Catalogs. Any sync fees will be split 50/50 with the Company. You'll get 100% of the Writer's share, and the Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher's share. You must own or control your Masters and Copyright to submit. Please submit as many Instrumentals and/or Cues as you'd like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PST) on Sunday, November 26th, 2023. TAXI # S231126PH

To me, that sounds like you're definitely in the ballpark. I could hear that in the right place in a film.

I think that has a nice developmental arc without getting too busy for this sort of cue.
