Hi Everyone,
I was offered a publishing deal for one song. It asked for 100% of the publisher's share as well as ownership of the songs Copyright. As the only writer, I would get 100% of the writers share. Any sync fees would be split 50/50. I'm concerned about the Copyright ownership. The song is over 25 years old has made no money to date. Should i sign and give them a chance to get placements?
Thanks,
Adam

Or wait another 25yrs and make double no money ?
Up to you but I presume you wrote it because you wanted people to listen and maybe earn some money along the way. Will not signing it anywhere get you any further ?

Re: Offered a Publishing Deal
Congratulations on getting an offer! It sounds like a typical deal for sync.
Its not always easy to let go, but I agree with Cosmicdolphin that if you've achieved nothing with it in 25y you might as well go with any decent offer that you're comfortable with. I'd also suggest deciding fairly quickly and letting the library know, otherwise they might move on without you anyway.
Good luck with whatever you decide .

Re: Offered a Publishing Deal
Glad you signed the deal - it sounds like a very typical & standard offer. People often get concerned about the copyright aspect, which I've personally never understood, as the copyright ownership does not affect how much money you'd make on royalties or sync fees.
Really though, this line says it best:
Anyway, congrats on the deal, and again I'm glad you took it. May there be buckets of money in your future!!
