Hello from the Pacific Northwest
Hi Taxi passengers!
I’m Chris and I live in Washington state north of Seattle. I joined Taxi in 2023 and have just been a lurker on the forums so far. I am a full time small business owner working in the medical devices field. I’ve been a musician in one form or another all my life: Church choirs, guitar player, electric and string bassist, hunt and peck keyboardist, rock band member, songwriter. For the past 15 years I have played bass in community orchestras and have a lot of classical exposure.
I stumbled into the world of sync several years ago. Kind of like going through the closet in the Chronicles of Narnia! So I have been studying production music production for the last few years and recording tracks trying to match references of interest I have found in high end libraries like Universal and Warner Chappell. I've been keeping my eye on listings that Taxi sends out looking for something I think I'm ready to tackle and submit. The benefits of "practicing" producing for a while now is that I have streamlined my process and feel more confident that I can compose and produce something new quickly.
I attended my first road rally in November, which was awesome, but almost overwhelming! I really enjoyed the sessions and took tons of notes and met a bunch of people. Hopefully I can make it back to the road rally this year too.

Re: Hello from the Pacific Northwest
Welcome Chris! I am in the same boat...just joined in October of 2023, attended my first rally, and am still getting my feet wet in this racket! So far, this forum, and TAXI TV have been a great help, and you will find that the "old timers" as I like to call them, are extremely helpful as long as you post links to what you are talking about, and post in the correct forum..... Best of luck Dude! Happy New Year!

Hello Chris and Bradley ~ from the Rocky Mountains!!... I'm Ken - and chronologically speaking - I am an "old timer", but new-ish to Taxi as well... 1st RR last Nov... agreed with your assessment - it was amazing and a bit overwhelming too... So much to see/do/listen/watch/experience/LEARN!!... Also been recently perusing the forum, looking for any tid-bits and contacts to move forward with... Made a few submissions so far... all rejected - but that actually feels like a small success to me - in that I am now "In the Game"!... All the best - Here's to a Happy and Fruitful 2024.... ~Ken

Re: Hello from the Pacific Northwest
Welcome guys! The Forum is a fantastic place to learn, to get feedback on your music/production, and to ask questions. It takes time to ease yourself into the sync world, in general whataever musical experience you have prior to starting your sync journey is largely irellevant. It's a different world where your main priority is to figure out what the end client wants to hear, not figure out what you want to play.
It takes time, the most important factor to achieve success is relationship building. Like the business world, people buy from people they like. You need to be dependable, responsive and professional, along with being able to deliver quality music on a deadline.
So, keep posting in the forums and ask all of the questions you can! Those of us that have been here a while are eager to help you succeed.

Welcome, Chris!
BTW, there are quite a few Taxi folk who live in the Seattle area. I have a bunch of Taxi friends out your way.
Best of luck!

Hi Casey! Yes! I have already befriended Ed Hartman and got to meet Dean Krippaehne at the road rally. 🪘. Maybe there can be a Seattle Road Rally!

And with all the water we have around Seattle it would have to be a “Water taxi” road rally!
