What Genre is my song?

Post by guest4254 » Thu Feb 08, 2024 2:40 pm

I'm not sure if I'm in the right place for this question, maybe someone can direct me if I'm not.

I seem to recall others having the same dilemma about figuring out what Genre their song is...or trying to find similar artists to use as reference tracks for comparison purposes.
I even seem to recall Robin Fredricks talking about it a few Road Rallys ago, but can't seem to find that specific RR class.

Anyway, if someone could direct me to the right place, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Harry

I don't know where you could find that specific RR class but Robin Fredericks mentioned in last weeks Taxi TV, don't write a song and then try to figure out the genre.

You should already know what genre you're writing in before you even start, and the reference tracks should be there to help keep you on target.

It's been a while since I read her books but pretty sure the same advice would also be echoed in them so I would reccommend reading one or both.
