Apple Loops
Hello, there!
Let's talk about Apple Loops: they are sentenced by Apple to be totally Royalty-Free. However, it is true that some companies don't want them in for problems with, for example, YouTube's content ID. Even some libraries reject them. So, is it advisable to use some Apple Loops once in a while to make compositions a little bit more robust, even without making an extensive use of them, just using them in the background of a mix? What is your suggestion on their use? Thank you so much, again.

Re: Apple Loops
Depends what it is, you're usually fine with stuff like percussion and subtle things that add a sprinkling texture to the track but don't use loops that have a melody or chords in them as it's likely someone else has used the same loop in their track and most libraries have a strict no-sample loops policy.

Re: Apple Loops
Make sure you don't submit them as their own stem (ie. if delivering stems, make sure they're layered with another sound, unless you've manipulated them sonically). If it's a high hat thing, maybe take the pattern on the 3rd beat and swap it with the first beat, layer a couple of parts to emphasise it, if using Logic, experiment with it's new Beat Breaker plugin to mess with things a bit too...

Re: Apple Loops
As a general rule, I think it's just good practice to always at least slightly alter any loop/sample we might use. Perhaps the easiest ways to do that are with some sort of saturation or distortion (nothing extreme, though), and some EQ tweaks to (de-)emphasize certain elements of it. If you bounce that down and use that, you've essentially got your own loop/sample that should be different enough for YouTube ID, especially if you've also manipulated certain beats of it by removing them or moving them around etc.
