It's a shame, too. I would have really liked for the library to have a chance to hear my track.
There is nothing stopping you trying the direct approach as well

Interesting. I honestly have no idea how to do that. Can you elaborate or point me to some resources for how to contact libraries directly? I have no existing relationship with them.

Thanks,
Lucas

In a nutshell. Write 8 - 12 simlarly themed tracks. Package them together into a private playlist of some sort ( ie. SoundCloud ) as an album

Come up with a name / theme for the album and if possible do a piece of artwork which you can put on Soundcloud apge to go with it ( very easy now with AI album cover generators )

Google production music libraries and curate a list of the ones you think you might like to work with. Check their submission guidelines on their website, there will be an email address and instructions. Craft your email and tailor it for each company you submit to. Send the email / album link. Wait a couple of weeks. Follow it up. If nothing happens after another couple of weeks move on to the next library on your wish list.

If the music is licensable you will have someone contact you - might take 5 - 6 attempts ..you might get some no thank you's..you might get ghosted and ignored...rinse and repeat but if the music is useful to someone eventually one will bite.

Mark sure you have all your ducks in a row for when they do. PRO membership info etc. Be prepared to make edits, make deliverables and sign a contract. Hope that helps.

Do this alongside your Taxi submissions as it will accellerate your career. Eventually if successful you may get to the stage where Taxi is no longer required but many keep their memberships as new library partners are always welcome and of course side benefits like the RR , the forums etc. all help.

Mark

This is awesome. Thank you! I've googled production music libraries but had no idea how to proceed with them. Getting a step by step list from someone who has done this is invaluable.

Thanks again,
Lucas

I would also add that you should really do a bit of research on the libraries you consider. For example, there's little point sending underscore piano tracks to a library that specialises in trailer tracks. I would suggest checking a prospective library's website to look for signs of recent placements (eg a showreel from the last couple of years) to make sure they are still active. Then weigh up what sort of placements they are (big TV shows and movies, or corporate clients, or ads) and whether that suggests a good fit for you and your music and a standard that you can realistically compete with. Then have a listen at the music in their catalogue, and whether they have any tracks in a similar style to those you're offering. If they have none at all then they probably can't use that style. If they have lots then check whether there's something slightly different about what you're offering so you've got an edge when submitting. Some places might even provide a brief summary of the terms of their deals for composers (eg exclusive, % shares, upfront licensing splits), so make sure that's acceptable to you. My personal preference is to target only exclusive libraries but that's your choice. if any of the above doesn't look right to or doesn't suit you, then move on rather than waste your time and theirs.

If all looks OK then you have to find a way to contact them but all it takes is a contact name and email address. Some will include those details or even provide a submission channel, possibly in a 'Composers' section. Send them a polite personalised email that shows you've cared to check them out (rather than just include them on a generic blanket email). Say what you're offering, why you think it might work for them, and include a streaming link (never attach tracks). They don't need your life story but include your PRO affiliation to indicate that you're serious and professional.

Sending cold submissions to busy people who might not be interested in what you're offering can be a long and frustrating game, so be prepared for that and don't get too disappointed when you hear nothing or get a 'no thanks' reply. Keep going though, and keep choosing your libraries wisely. Good luck!
