80s songs anyone?

Post by cowriter » Sun Mar 17, 2024 12:46 pm

Recently there have been increasing inquiries about material that could come from the 80s. I therefore revised two titles together with my co-writer. Do you think they fit the genre?

One of the listings reads as follows:
Lots of EMOTIONALLY UPBEAT 1980s POP SONGS with Male or Female vocals are needed by a Film/TV Music Publisher for (up to) $15,000 placements in an upcoming series for Amazon Prime!

This Publisher is on the hunt for a range of Up-Tempo Songs in the general stylistic wheelhouse of the following references we got directly from our contact at the company:

"Hungry Like The Wolf" by Duran Duran

"Shy Boy" by Bananarama

"In The Name of Love" by the Thompson Twins

Quoting the Publisher: "I'm looking for songs that are upbeat and feel good emotionally. Vintage is always better, however, if they can recreate the sound without sacrificing the emotion and feel from the era, that could work."

NOTE: The Company would prefer to hear vintage recordings from the 1980s, but if you have more recently produced recordings in the general production style of the references that convincingly sound like they were recorded in the 1980s, they'd love to hear those as well!

Please submit '80s Pop Songs with a fun, feel-good sound that could be heard on a playlist with the references! Your submissions should have an emotionally upbeat vibe, feel-good rhythms, catchy melodies, memorable choruses, and lots of fun vibes! Instrumentation that's in the general wheelhouse of the reference tracks will work best here. Engaging, well-performed Male or Female vocals that capture the sound of that era are key for this listing!

Lyrics should avoid references to specific names, dates, times, places, brands, and profanity. Do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of any other artists’ music, sounds, or any other form of media. Era-appropriate Broadcast Quality is needed.

IMPORTANT: This Publisher will need instrumental-only versions of your Songs as well, but not yet! All you need to submit for now are the Full Songs with vocals, but please have the "mix-minus-vocals" versions on hand and ready to send at a moment’s notice if you get a call or email from the Publisher.

The estimated license fee for this placement is (up to) $15,000, depending on the ultimate use. This Publisher offers a NON-EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 deal. You’ll split any applicable sync fees 50/50. You’ll keep 100% of the Master rights and the Writer’s share, and the Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher's Share for any placements they generate. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit for this opportunity. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by a TAXI screener that was handpicked by the Music Publisher. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT) on Monday, March 18th, 2024. TAXI # S240318AZ

Thanks for listening!

Andy

Good stuff Sir. I really like your man. The singer is very good/confident, and car nail those high notes with the best. Good driving beat. congrats
Thankfully, while growing old is compulsory, growing up remains optional!
