Re: BE MY A&R?!
I like it!. I think the lead vocal has a great current pop style, and that's got to be a good thing. I wasn't sure about the intro synth but it grew on me. BPM? The listing asks for danceable energy so I'm not sure about that, but maybe its in scope. My main concern would be the chorus, where (as mentioned above) the lyrical hook is masked by the BVs because there's a lot of congestion in the vocal frequencies at that point. A bit of delicate frequency carving could sort that out. I think the song is really good though and I hope it earns you a forward at very least. Good luck!
Graham (UK). Still composing a little faster than decomposing, and 100% HI.

Here’s a version where the song only has one bgv as apposed to two. Does this sound less congested?

IMHO that doesn't help, and the vocals are losing clarity too. That's only my opinion though so see what others say.

Yeah, that didn't help. Take away everything but the vocal in the chorus. Play it, look at your track meter (write down the db's) and listen for clarity. Now, one by one start adding tracks observing the meter and listen to your vocal. Keep adding tracks and compare. I sometimes reduce some of the supporting tracks by about 3db in that area where it normally gets louder on it's own. You can also jack up the main vocal a little in just the chorus. If you do it systematically you should have good results. There is no way that chorus vocal should not be heard. It is striking when you come back to the verse how clear it is. Keep messing with it and good luck to you.ddensmore1 wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 3:23 amHere’s a version where the song only has one bgv as apposed to two. Does this sound less congested?

I like this! I'm not well versed enough to know what kinda hairs the screeners would split, but I think it's got a shot. The vocal is strong and I like the changes in the newer version. And I think "Narcissistic 2.0" is the better title. I'm looking forward to hearing more!
cheers,
Michael

Hiiii Telefunkin! I hope you see this so I toke your advice, I recorded this in a studio and my engineer is out of town so I had to try something myself I removed the vocals and spit the chorus and tried cranking up the volume on the main chorus. Is this better? Thank you so much! Your feedback could've saved me a return! fingers crossed!Telefunkin wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 10:00 amIMHO that doesn't help, and the vocals are losing clarity too.
