The tune was picked up from a catalogue on WCPM, they actually paid me $2000 upfront for all the 10 track of the album where the tune used is included, but that was it, no specific upfront for the usage itself

Guessing that might be a Sync buyout deal then, so they keep any sync fees in exchange for the $2k

It may well be that, but also it is a WCPM's standard practice as they pay $200 per track, and they may or may not recoup it
