Yep, walk at your own peril - and if you DO decide to walk somewhere, make sure you are in a group. That guy who got mugged a few years back was a buddy of mine, so I got to hear the story firsthand after it happened. It wasn't too far from the hotel (it's been long enough now that my memory of the story is sketchy). The hotel is in the airport district of LA - not the most glamorous or safe of places. You're perfectly fine in the hotel, but be wary outside.

It can't hurt to bring a few. You may or may end up giving them to anyone but better to be prepared. It goes without saying, only put your best tracks on the CD, maybe around 6 max (no hard and fast rules there), and track 1 should be the one that really draws people in. Upbeat, positive works best for that.ddensmore1 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2024 8:52 pmHi Casey!!! I’ll be at the rally this year, hopefully I get to see you!!!! Question, should I bring CDS at ALL? I recommend an envelope, not a jewel case, to make it light for someone to take home with them. Your contact info should be on both the envelope and the CD label. The track list should at least be on the envelope so someone listening can look down at the track names while listening. Audio CD, not a bunch of mp3s since all players don't play mp3s that way.
When I used to do it, I would print my information and track list on a 3 x 4 shipping label (such as from Avery) and stick that on the back of the envelope. That gives you something neat and legible. You can also print stick on CD labels for the discs-- lots of product out there for that. Sharpie labeling is cheesy.
And if the CDs don't get handed out, they make nice drink coasters.

See you there!

Yeah it's a pretty sketchy area..... Just walking to Denny's after dark is a bit risky IMHO. I lived all over LA for over ten years, and the airport area has never been a good one! Even around the new stadium it is still pretty bad. Best to be safe and bring a buddy along if you are walking around there, especially after dark, and I believe it will get dark at around 5 PM at the Rally (Daylight Savings is a little early this year!)VanderBoegh wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 10:20 amYep, walk at your own peril - and if you DO decide to walk somewhere, make sure you are in a group.
