Greetings from Patterson NY

Post by beatpharmacy » Fri Oct 25, 2024 12:22 pm

Hey everyone,

Hope this finds everyone well.

I just joined Taxi premium and figured I would introduce myself. My name is Brendon Moeller. Im a 56 year old electronic music composer living in Patterson NY. I grew up in South Africa and immigrated to NYC at the end of 1993 to pursue my dream of becoming a full time music producer. I have released dozens of albums, toured the world for a few years DJ’ing and performing live. After collapsing twice on long haul flights I decided to give up touring and find new avenues of income. I suffer from chronic claustrophobia so sitting in economy on any flight longer than 3 hours did me head in!

I ventured into the world of samplepack making and ended up making over 100 samplepacks for the likes of Splice, Loopmasters etc. I then managed to get a gig composing for Epidemic Sound. I was unexpectedly laid off after 6 and a half years. I then did some consulting and content creation for a music AI firm called Aimi.Inc and got laid off after a year when the downsized the entire company by 50%.

So here I am looking to move forward with sync and music library stuff. Hopefully Ive come to the right place

Its good to be here!

If you can write sync, you can likely swim in this pool.

Attending the 2024 Road Rally Nov 7-10 at The Westin LAX Hotel might be a good beginning.
Your mileage may vary.

Well, got one forward out of about 60 submissions so far. Some of the feedback has been helpful. Biggest problem I think I have had until now is straying a little too far from the brief examples.

How long did it take ya’ll to get into a steady groove getting forwards?

"Straying too far from the brief" is my middle name!!! You know who has helped me with that quite a bit? @Casey Hurowitz - There are some great "old timers" on here (sorry Casey.:)...) that have a wealth of knowledge, so check in here early and often! As far as "Steady Groove" ?? I don't know..... they come in spurts, but there are lulls as well, at least for me.... I follow the advice of others who have been doing this for a minute, and just move on to the next track...Rinse and Repeat! Best of luck, and Happy Holidays!

Looking at my spreadsheet, my first 60 submission yielded 22 forwards and I stayed between 30-40% of tracks forwarded for the two years I was a member. 10 of them have made air since.
