He wore a leather belt and camel hair
Living as a prophet of The Lord
O but on that mountain he despaired
And lost sight of his reward

Cos a thousand years to us
Is but a day to Him
All mortal men are dust
And so our sight is dim
All saints must learn to wait
With each mountain we climb
Between the sky and ground,
The cross and crown
Lies a valley of time

O but in that prison he despaired
In the hour of the sword

First must come the patience of Job
Then the crown of life and white robe

Our journey has been reckoned

To any unfamiliar with the Bible, Elijah lived in the 9th century BC, and dressed in camel hair and a leather belt. John the Baptist lived in the early 1st century AD. They dressed the same. Elijah was in many ways a “type” or prophetic picture of John.
