I wanted to share my experience using TAXI.com for sync licensing, as it’s been quite a journey and I’ve learned a lot along the way.

First off, I’ll say that I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity TAXI provided me. Thanks to them, I was fortunate enough to have some of my music forwarded to a client (whose name I can’t disclose due to contractual obligations). This led to an exciting development: the client reached out to me directly the very next day, asking for more tracks, and we ended up signing a non-exclusive deal for my entire catalog to be included in their library.

However, the process wasn’t entirely smooth. My biggest frustration was with the A&R feedback during the submission phase. The client had asked for EDM songs "in the general style" of three reference tracks they provided, but out of the 21 tracks I submitted, almost all of them were returned with the critique: "Not delivering 'DANCE/EDM/POP SONGS' in the style of the refs enough to work here."

To me, it felt like the A&R person was interpreting the reference tracks far too literally, rather than focusing on whether the songs matched the broader vibe or mood the client seemed to be looking for. It almost felt like they were searching for reasons not to forward my tracks rather than giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Despite this, three of my tracks were eventually forwarded, and the client loved them. Their email asking for more tracks (and ultimately signing a deal with me) validated that my work was exactly what they needed.

In hindsight, while I found the A&R process overly critical, I’m grateful that the system still worked in my favor in the end. It was a valuable lesson in resilience and staying confident in my music, even in the face of rejection.

My advice is to trust your instincts and keep creating. Even if your tracks get returned, it doesn’t mean they aren’t good — it just means the gatekeepers didn’t see the same potential as the end client might.
