HI I 've been working on tension cues /instrumentals can I get some feedback on a piece I uploaded to my soundcloud http://www.soundcloud.com/777rd oh it's called Secure the scene
Thanks I need some constructive feedback my goal for 2025 is to write 2 cues a week I am staying in 2 styles tension and dramedy. i've been away from taxi for a while just coming back

Musically not at all my wheelhouse but I'd look for a different title. I imagine if i were an editor looking for a tension cue for, let's say, a police/detective procedural drama, I'd probably skip right over that title.

Sounds like a good dramedy cue but I'm not qualified to comment on the sounds/samples which is always critical. Hopefully cosmicdophin and/or telefunkin will drop by for that.

I agree with Ethan (eeoo). Make the title match the style and possible usage. For dramedy, things like "Sneaky Footsteps", etc. Think the old "Desperate Housewives" show. I have one called "Cheeky Business" and another called "Life on Cheeky Lane". Google "dramedy cues" and sites will come up with tons of ideas. And why "vist" and not "visit"? Typo?

Hi, I agree with eeoo that the title seems inappropriate. I'm getting procedural drama/investigative tension but bordering on mild horror, whereas not all dentistry is a horrible experience ..... look > .

To me the track sounds a little lost, with somewhat disjointed parts that come in then disappear, so there's not much sense of progression until the build towards the end.

Have you watched any of Matt's Music Minute videos? There's LOTS of info on there about many aspects of sync (including titles) but perhaps the King, Queen, Jack, Ace arrangement strategy would be helpful, and in this case the 'Slow Burn' version of it. Although Matt uses dramedy examples the same strategies apply to other genres too. However, I predict that after watching you'll flip back to making dramedy cues for a while .

EDIT: I was responding to the original post requesting feedback for a track called 'A Visit To The Dentist'. It seems that title's been changed for the better now.

Thanks TEL Yes I have been watching MATTS VIDEOS I will check out the king, queen, jack ace I can see where that 1/2 note pulse can come across as scary.

Hey Ron! A couple things stuck out to me on this one....

First, that drum beat you bring in a couple of times... Nix that! It sounds rather disjointed and random, and totally caught my attention in a bad way. I think this cue would be much stronger without that piece in there.

Second, the big pulse at the end seems odd too, and almost seems like it's pushing the compressors too hard on the mix. I dunno what it is exactly, but it's another thing that caught my attention in a "what the heck?" kinda way.

Keep tweaking! And I'm glad you changed the title, if the original was "A Visit to the Dentist", lol. There ain't anything "tension / dramatic" about that title, so your new title fits much better with the style of music.

Hi Matt thanks yes I already pulled out that drum beatit was actually called focus a cinimatic sound that came with logic and I deleted the pulse I believe it was the one that has the 1/2 note dragging sound
