Instructions for Avatar setup

Hey all,

Thoughts I'd post this quick because a few people have been asking about it. Here are some instructions for getting your avatar working. (fair warning - this is just what I have found to work. Someone else please chime in if there is a better way)


First, you need to get the image you want in a 90px by 90px size
(I used GIMP, but an easy way to do this would be to just go to http://www.simpleimageresizer.com, resize it, and download it)

Then go to tinyimg.io, and upload your pic. You should see a link for where your avatar is stored.

In the taxi user control panel, go to the Profile tab, then select Edit Avatar

For avatar type, select remote avatar

Then paste the link you got from tinyimg.io
(also make sure the avatar dimensions are listed as 90 x 90 in the user control panel)

I'm a Lunkhead... just tried your method 3 times and still no luck...
Used to be able to link to my Dropbox photos (or so I thought)
I'll try again in a month or so...
It would be nice if there was at least something in the "gallery" choices

Yeah - I gave up on that awhile ago. Oh well... there we are, with that questioned look on our faces.

I also had no luck with the method mentioned here. However, my failure there inspired me to look again at the avatar setup in my profile, and I noticed one of the options, beyond the default "Gravatar" option, was "Remote avatar". That let me enter a link to an image on my website, so I uploaded one there and it worked. I hadn't even explored the other options previously, somehow thinking Gravatar was the only possibility.

I tried this so any times and failed. This worked perfectly. First off, I couldn't shrink the guitar down. You gave me a site to do this. ha ha Step by step like a cake recipe. Thank you so much

I was trying and trying to follow these directions and I figured out how to do it based on image links from other people's profiles. Create a free account at this site: https://imgbb.com/ and activate your imgbb account from your email.
Upload a pic that is 90x90 px. After the pic is on your imgbb account, click on the embed icon at the bottom right of your pic </> and click on the down arrow, select "direct link" and click the "copy" box to the right of the code link. Back in your Taxi profile's control panel, select "Edit Avatar," under the Profile tab and in the box on the right, where it says "avatar type" chose "remote avatar" in the drop down, paste the link from the imgbb site, then fill in 90x90 px below and submit.
