Re: Blues Guitar Listing
Hey Ken,
You didn't specifically ask for feedback, but since you posted it in this forum I'm going ahead
I really like the lead guitar work starting at :40. That's when the track really starts to groove. The smaller section in the middle is effective, and makes the bigger ending pop as well. Overall it's good!
If you get a forward then disregard all the following and good luck with the track! But here are a couple things I heard that maybe you could do to make it better:
--The second chorus between :20 and :40(ish) isn't necessary imo. It also doesn't swing as well as the rest of the track. After the intro you should just get right into it with the lead guitar work!
--Along those same lines, the final chorus you go back to the same thing as :20-:40. I'd keep some lead guitar soloing over that final chorus to keep the energy high. (don't delete the guitar riff you have now, just add a solo line over it)
--The very end breakdown I'd get rid of the kick drum and just let the guitar do its thing. Also, this is just a personal thing, I think the final lick would sound cooler if you put the G# in. So instead of G-A-A go G-G#-A.
--Finally, to my ear the bass is a bit loud and the solo guitar stuff is too quiet. YMMV on that.
Again, it's a cool track, and good luck with it whatever happens!

Re: Blues Guitar Listing
Hey Ken - I don't think that intro is doing you any favors, I would start it at 0:20. Honestly when I heard the first few seconds my first reaction was no this ain't working but then at 0:20 it got way more interesting.
Good luck!

Hi Geoff,
Thanks for the constructive feedback. It's great to have someone else's perspective. It really helps a lot. I'm gonna try some of these suggestions.
Much appreciated,
Ken

Hey EO,
Thanks for listening. Yeah, I might axe the intro. I appreciate your feedback.

I may be in the minority, but I like some of the intro. Maybe just keep the first two bars and then jump into the riff?

Re: Blues Guitar Listing
After reading the comments & suggestions, this 'lurker' will chime in with a 'win-win' suggestion.
The Intro (first 20 seconds) can be cut from THIS TRACK,
and kept as its own thing. I.E. use it in context with Matt's Music Minute (YouTube channel) format: K,Q,J,Ace -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDAt8C5rqqw
That way you'll end up using all, or most, of your creation and end up with 2 viable cues.
HTH, good luck!

Re: Blues Guitar Listing
So, here's the new version. I took out the intro. Lowered the bass volume. Turned up lead guitar. And added organ riffs at end chorus.
Thanks everyone for the great feedback.

Re: Blues Guitar Listing
Those are good improvements. I hope you'll keep the board posted on the feedback that you receive.
If you were still interested in feedback, I am feeling just a bit of disconnect between the drums and the rest of the instruments. They don't come across as being in the same room. I don't feel this strongly. So, this just a thought meant to support ya.

Ya think a bit of reverb on the kit might do the trick?johnnyrowing wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 9:07 amThose are good improvements. I hope you'll keep the board posted on the feedback that you receive.

Possibly a few DB lower in the mix, too?
