Re: Don't upload to TAXI over 128kbps!
I wonder if Taxi might somehow allow us to upload 128k & 192k versions so the streaming versions don't suffer from re-compression...that would be cool.Andre

With all that in mind, would it be better to submit music for listings where quality is critical (like libraries or internet radio) on CD?

I didn't catch which they are forwarding... it would be a shame to load at the lower bit rate if the higher rate is what they're forwarding to the customer!!!You said they have them for Archive and the Higher and lower player rate on the homepage but I didn't catch any forwarding reference!!Is it still true what Allen said about Taxi forwarding at the 192 rate? If thats true I'd stick with the 192. and let the public suffer the 128... a little more compression would probably help my screeching anyhow!!! Michael

Quote:However, it still stands that if one wants to either 1) preserve the MP3 tags in one's file when streaming First off I think tags are irrelevant when streaming since they dont stream.I would bet that they forward the 192 version which would be untouched so the tags would be present. The versions they create would be for streaming only. If they were created for streaming AND forwarding why would they archive a higher bit rate version and then just let it sit there taking up valuable space? Unless they are really not that smart which I think would be a unreasonable assumption. You did mention assumptions didn't you?

When you send an mp3 to the listing the original mp3 is sent to the screener and if forwarded, the original mo3 is sent to the listing party. The file you are checking out is the streaming file which is NOT what the screeners are listening to. So everybody take a deep breath...all is right with the world.

They do, and the tags become part of the stream. It's easy enough to verify for onesself - if your 'front cover' graphic shows up, they're in there. And it's true, I don't like making assumptions which is why I took the time to work out the details of all this (see above.)-djh
