Over Produced song for sale?

Post by brothersugg » Wed Nov 23, 2005 6:20 pm

Hi All,If I want to write a song with intention to sell to a major artist, do you find it better to keep it real simple (i.e. acoustic guitar, vocals) or to add more vision like guitar, bass, drums, vox, backing vox, strings, keys, scratches and hip hop downbeats, etc....What has worked for you to get forwarded at TAXI?

My forwards have all come on full productions... Although, many songs have been cut from basic demos. Some songs just shine better with a stripped down production. I really think the majority of songs that get cut are from fully produced demos.Overproducing, though, is much worse then underproducing... Too much tends to turn off the ears that may be otherwise interested...

We record demos for publishers and writers from all over the country, and most of them want a full demo. Our Premier Demo includes a 6-piece band that typically includes acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass, drums, piano and steel. Sometimes writers request fiddle or strings in addition to that. Sometimes we'll put Dobro instead of steel or organ instead of or in addition to piano. Virtually all the demos we do for publishers are full band demos. We have a new Music Sample page on our website, if you'd like to hear some of our work. Best wishes with your music!Larry Beairdhttp://www.beairdmusicgroup.com

Larry, the vocalist samples wouldn't stream. Didn't try the other one.

From my computer (using Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox), it worked great. If you have a chance, try again and give the whole page time to load up. If you still have problems, please let me know because we sure want it to be working properly. Thanks for checking out our web site.Best wishesLarryhttp://www.beairdmusicgroup.com

I like that song, Hook. Is that you singing? The hound dog similies are very good. I also like the moments/romance rhyme.

Thanks for the kind comments! No, that is not my voice singing. That is Ron Wallace, a great vocalist who lives in Nashville. I think it's only a matter of time for him.
