New to the forums. I sent "Pound Sand" and "Van Allen" to the NIN/ChemBro listing.
"Pound Sand" is a new one I put together for the listing. "Van Allen" is one I did a few years back (and has been on XM/Sirius).
I'm not entirely happy with the song structure of "Pound Sand" and might develop it more but didn't have time for this listing.

Forgot to mention that I think Van Allen might be the wrong energy for this listing but submitted it because you never know (it does remind me of some Crystal Method songs).

Re: "Pound Sand" for NIN/ChemBro listing
Well, Ben,
I really like the groove on Pound Sand, but I don't see how it's at all Chemical Bros – the main point being I didn't expect to hear live drums. The Bros would have a way more digital sound. I think it'd be really useful for lots of things if you shortened the intro and had it develop more quickly. Some listings only require 30s or 1min and this could work well under dialog/for ads, imo.
Van Allen is a great groove also (love your production) and it's more Chembro, but again I would have plumped for break beat and techno sounds. Then again, it is highly possible I know nothing (lol).
Best of luck with them anyway.

Re: "Pound Sand" for NIN/ChemBro listing
Ben,
I'll preface this comment with - I have absolutely no experience in this genre; no knowlegde of who ChemBro is, and therefore absolutely no idea of what I'm talking about. That being said, I like the energy and feel of "Pound Sand" and can see it being used in film and TV underscores. I wnated it to vary more than it did though. You start with this chord progression and nice groove that goes through about 0:43. I thought it was the intro at first and too long of one, but it turns out that it's the A section. (Maybe that's typical for this genre and listing. As I said, I don't know what I'm talking about.) Then you repeat it, adding a nice little extra layer that's pretty far in the background - too far in my opinion since it's the only new thing being introduced. Then there's a nice little drum interlude from 1:22 to 1:32. Then the piano comes in and pretty much plays variations on the same A section. Then at 2:22 the guitar is back in to repeat the A section as it was played before. Even for film and TV I would think music editors would want more variation to choose from and mix and match to changes in the video and / or dialogue. Just my opinion. Good luck.
