PRO's

Post by Donratto » Wed Oct 09, 2019 5:26 am

Hi

I'm a bit naive, to say the least, when it comes to the business side of songwriting. I noticed a request today that stipulated affiliation with a PRO. Never even contemplated that before. Any tips, links, guidance would be much appreciated!

Many thanks
Richard

Read this:

https://www.taxi.com/transmitter/1504/know-the-lingo/

In a nutshell:

There are (sometimes and getting less common) upfront payments paid upon signing tunes with a publisher, or )more usually but still less than you might wish) on having a significant placement.

Most broadcast placements do earn back end - royalties - which are paid by your PRO - wish if you are in the UK is likely PRS.

Join soon. Its where a majority of your earnings will come from.

Many thanks!

I'll have a look at the article. Apologies for late reply, thought I'd get a notification...
