Progress Report-it's a Whole New World

Post by Susanstunes » Fri Jul 26, 2019 10:59 am

Hi everyone!

Since my signing with my first Publisher in April, I am in a very different mind set and way of working that is amazing.
I have 5 tracks signed now, all World Music, one with vocals in Hindi language! Knowing there needs to be faster production I am trying to absorb more efficient ways of doing things in my DAW. But It has been an exciting few months.
I can't believe how much I've grown in this short amount of time. Here is what I'm learning:

Writing to listings is much much different than when I send a track to audition for the library. Once approved, I really learn the most about what my music is made of, due to the process of making Alt Mixes and Stems to 'Go Live'. THIS has been the thing that has helped my production skills improve by leaps and bounds lately.

Making files is so instructive. Dissecting my mix layer by layer, part by part shows me what I need to work on to make my mixes pop more, have more finished quality. It shows me the exposed little flaws and glitches that I can fix to keep enhancing the music. I feel this part of the process may move me up the ladder of success faster by about triple time.

There's not a lot of time right now for me to submit to new listings, because the focus is on this library. But when I do I think my tricks should be more competitive...hopefully.

Onward and Upward! Susan

Congrats on the signings!

Creating all the alt-mixes takes a long time, but I agree, it certainly helps you learn a lot!

Go your own way! Out of necessity, drive, gumption, whatever.. don't let anyone tell you you can't!
It's not what goes into your music that's important, it's what comes out the speakers
