On the higher IQ thing, though, I wonder.Do people with higher IQ's naturally gravitate toward music? Or is an increase in IQ a direct result of musical training?

Well this confirms something I've wondered about for a long time. I've always guessed that my left & right brain come together to play when I'm doing music. I jokingly tell folks, "ah, shucks, I'm just really good at applied mathematics, that's all." But the left-brain's math let's me know the rules, and the right brain can see the patterns and knows when to break them, and when to draw inside the lines.

Musician are natural multi-taskers.What ever instrument we play involves left hand, right hand, rhythm, tempo, melody, velocity, meter, and a host of sub-conscious things. I was fine until I read that they meant 'professionally trained musicians'. I'm a self taught/still learning guy. Billy

You forgot the job the ears are doing, Byllsong! I don't know about the natural part; seemed like it took years to beat that in.
