Re: Qs from the no-home-recording-gear songwriter
Thanks, Mike;
very helpful info... it lets me know what questions to ask before writing any checks.
I wish I could actually be in and around while the musos did their thing, and behold the studio magic happen; but I won't have that luxury; which is probably better for them, too.
For the reasons explained in your story, it's the most direct route for me to take, too.
Soon, I hope.
Cheers.

what andy said...and i always have players sign and pay them before we start tracking. then the biz is out of the way and everyone can relax and focus on creativity.

Re: Qs from the no-home-recording-gear songwriter
All helpful stuff.
I'm discovering that places in Nashville offering high-level demo services are being done "on the cheap" (but not cheap) by touring & session players (to remain un-named)... unless one has the deep pockets to pony-up for the fully-mastered, radio-quality CD stuff.
I wanna hear my material as top-shelf as possible; clearly there are budget limitations to consider.
argh.
How do I get there from here? ; still remains the dilemma and most important question and decision.
oy.

Why not go with Marc Blackwell, who's on these forums. He does as broadcast quality demos as anyone in Nashville, and have Nashville vocalists on his rooster. He knows about the work-for-hire stuff, and might give you a quote if you have a batch of songs.

Contemporary country sounds like pop/rock, just with a dialect. And at the moment, they are all working on integrating hip hop sounds in Nashville. That's the next new thing.

I'm going counter to the direction of "New Country";
I'm after recapturing old-school, no-distortion,
for my collection of Country-Gospel songs.

Ah, classic 50'ies country. I'd think any Nashville studio would give you that.
Good thing to show them this video as an a la (demo studios would like that too).
