If you have a lot of historical material you could always look into employing the services of a Sync Agent for your back catalogue.
Very true. But keep in mind that sync agents also generally want contemporary sounding material as that is what they can place now. It's not always the case but leans heavily that way. (Sometimes there is material that by emotion is more ageless and timeless). That's why posting some of the songs here would help us guide Chet more.

A friend of mine does Swing and he's had placements in movies via a Sync Agent - Maybe that comes under the timeless bracket now.

Timeless and/or more niche and needed for specific types of scenes. There are tons or rock, pop, singer-songwriter songs but way less that would work in let's say, a cocktail lounge scene. I've done some cocktail lounge instrumental co-writes which have been placed by that "C" library. Another niche(s) can be songs that fit an era and are authentic to that era-- not "dated", but like you would have heard on the radio at that time. There will be scenes that take place in eras gone by. For example, I've done quite a few 60s songs like that-- a la Beatles, Monkees, Turtles, etc. Haven't landed a placement yet but they get pitched very often by the "C" folks.
