Question on forwards

When submitting songs to Taxi are most of you sending in songs that are for the most part produced in a professional or home studio with all the instruments, drums, piano, guitars, etc.I have a small home studio, running Pro-Tools LE on my Mac Pro Quad. I am really new at recording (this high tech technology is killing me!) and I play guitar and sing.My guitar skills and vocal skills are limited, I really consider myself a songwriter.Am I wasting my time sending in a demo for a particular listing for songs needed for a particular style if I'm just playing rhythm guitar and singing a original song.All opinions are welcome. Thanks!

Hi tomyco:I've only been on the forums for a couple of months but the forwards that I listen to are either done in a studio, through a demo service or in a home studio. If your voice is marketable and your playing is up to par, the reviewers won't ding you for that, I don't think. Sometimes I think the simpler songs are the better ones but the production has to reach the level of the players you hear on these forums, in order to compete.The old days of just grabbing a mike and laying down a couple of live tracks are pretty much over now that the bar was raised with home studios. Alas. And yeah, I know your pain about technology. It's painful in more places than one!

If you're feeling insecure about whether or not the standard recordings holds up to broadcast or master quality, you have the option of getting critique from the very same people that would screen your submission to a listing.If you are new to recording, you might want to pay a visit to the forum section Collaboration corner, where you can ask if there's someone willing to help you out with your recording, at least in the beginning while you're learning the craft.Maybe you will also get some valuable information on how to more quickly get to the level that is sufficient for your need.There are probably a lot more options, but these are the one's I can think of that are cheap, but effective.Good luck!
