Question re TAXI # S210930EE

Post by Merryband1 » Mon Sep 27, 2021 1:51 pm

"We'll Meet Again" for an indie film placement. Do you think the producer/director and/or music supervisor want the song sung in G, like Frank Sinatra, or would it be okay to submit it in Eb, the way Vera Lynn sang it? I can sing it in G, but it's either pretty low (almost contralto rather than just alto) or a little bit too high soprano for me... Eb is way more comfortable. I've been working on the arrangement in G, but I could transpose it. I may just do two versions and label them by key, but I'm concerned that maybe they have other music to tie into the song that is in G, and that it wouldn't meld well with Eb. Any ideas? (I'm going for a simple piano & bass arrangement, not too fancy, but classic, as the listing recommends.)

Thanks,
Merry

i am guessing they wouldn't care as long as it's in the best key for your own range. I certainly wouldn't have thought they would want a female voice in Sinatra's key if it was too low.

I would just arrange it to deliver your best performance.
