ORIGINAL and-or PUBLIC DOMAIN RAGTIME INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a NON-Exclusive Music Library that gets tons of placements on Major Broadcast Networks. They’re looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals that sound authentic, and have a traditional vibe and feel.
Please listen to the references below to get an idea of the stylistic wheelhouse your Instrumentals should fall in:
“Maple Leaf Rag” by Scott Joplin
“Champagne Rag” by Joseph Lamb
“Quality” by James Scott
For Original Instrumentals: Please submit Ragtime Instrumentals that have authentic-sounding instrumentation and solid musicianship. You can submit recently recorded songs that are in the general stylistic ballpark, or if you’ve got vintage recordings, this Music Library would love to hear them as well! Please avoid submitting anything that sounds synthetic or MIDI-driven - authenticity is key!
For Public Domain Instrumentals: You’d be wise to stick closely to the traditional arrangement/melody, so it’s easily recognizable! Essentially, compositions that were published before 1923 would be considered Public Domain.
IMPORTANT SPECIAL REQUEST FROM OUR CLIENT - They will need to know whether your piece is an Original Composition, or if it is in the Public Domain! Please indicate in the title of your song submission, by including the tag "original" or "PD" in the title. For example, use this template: "Joey's Song (Original)" or "Maple Leaf Rag (PD)".
All submissions should be 2 to 4 minutes long, give or take. Non-Faded endings will work best. Do NOT copy the referenced material in any way shape or form. Use it only as a general guide for texture, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast quality is needed.
