RealiWhistle?

Post by DouglasKnight » Mon Jan 03, 2022 6:24 pm

Hey all --

I'm looking for a whistle plug-in and came across this: https://realitone.com/products/realiwhistle

Has anyone used this or is there something else I should consider?

I'm using Logic Pro X 10.7.

Thank you,
DK

I'm not familiar with that company, but the offering seems pretty useable - especially with a listing that almost demands whistling coming due in a couple days ;)

Yes, I'm working on the "quirky" cue, so was hoping to include a better whistle! I'll probably try it out and will let you know if/how it works.....

I've used it on several occasions when it turned out my real whistling sounds nothing like it does in my head once recorded.

iirc I tried a few things and this was the best. I think I ended up doubling it with my own whistling too on one or two tracks which worked quite well.

You can hear on it on this 50's style Spaghetti Western track we did a few years ago ( complete with 50s retro style mix )

Track is called Cowboy Sunset

Thanks ! It was one of those cues where absoloutely nothing is on the grid so it was quite a challenge. I had to do quite a bit of digging to find out what instruments they would have used and get busy in Kontakt. Guitars are all real played by my mate.

I did notice that in the ref tracks for the listing under discussion, the whistling was always doubled by some other instrument. My takeaway is that truly 'authentic-sounding' whistling will generally be done by professional (union?) whistlers, when the target is a top-40 market, at least.

Whistling the part yourself and then Melodyne the crap out of it might be worth trying
