Resurrecting old Cassettes (my early 20's)

Post by cassmcentee » Sun Oct 13, 2019 6:37 am

Attempting to save a volume of recordings (Tascam 4 track/Roland TR-707 Drum Machine) that I did in the late 80's (23 year old self)
Wondering if anything is viable in our Legacy Library Market.
Dealing with cassette lag and degradation is a bummer...
Do you think something like this would get forwarded for an 1980's listing???

I'll go back an listen to the rest of it... but first impression first:
cut that Intro in half, and end it at the 1:11 drop... remove the vocal = voila - you've got a cool cue right there.
OKAY... brb after I finish the whole song.
If this IS authentic from that period - why NOT good for a listing asking for such? - that's my QUESTION/point of view so far. :? 8-)

I'm hearing a very heavy David Bowie influence - and that's okay, right?

Thanks Peter!
I hear ya, these can't be remixed or vocals removed, the original 4-tracks seem to be missing though I'm still searching for them.
Bouncing these tracks from my Master Mixdown Cassette/Stereo Only...
David Bowie is perfect for this period!

Oh - yeah - DUUUHH.. my bad.
Maybe you could still use the material and copy/paste/edit those portions without vocals... to make a cue -
OR - do a re-vamp of the tune with your current array of obtuse instrumentation... :? :D
good stuff, Man. :P

I think that it is very viable if they are looking for authentic 80's music. I've wondered the same thing about 4 track recordings that I have from the dark ages. Unfortunately, I no longer have a 4 track cassette deck.
Onward and upward!

Love it! Is that you singing??
If that aint 80s it will do till 80s comes along.
If you wanted to twiddle with the levels, say bring the guitars up a tad , you could try some M/S processing but it sounds great straight out of the box.
