Wow. Now there's an idea. If PreSonus bought the Sonar code and hired some Cakewalk coders, they would have a SuperDAW on their hands... I won't hold my breath but I will hope. Someone should start a thread about this on the S1 forums....PreSonus is listening......
If you look at how Presonus Studio One originated, I'm not sure that is in their dna,lol! However if you look at Gibson, they did acquire many brands, and look at how well that is working out. :shock: I'm sure the capitalist vultures are salivating in anticipation of the eventual bankruptcy sale,lol! :twisted: There is just so much competition and in some cases a shrinking market. Maybe a stock-based corporation with an Amazon-like strategy where you don't have to actually make money would work better than borrowing money for acquisitions and taking them private. :?

I'll give you a hint...it's Yes you should..

Btw - I also came from almost 15 years on Cakewalk. S1 is amazing. The workflow. The speed. The ease. Perfect DAW to me. And keeps getting better with every update. :)
Hey Marcus...after 20yrs I've filed for divorce from Sonar ( which I hadn't upgraded since 2009 ) ..I went speed dating with Samplitude , Waveform, Reaper....but after careful consideration I have popped the question to Studio One 3.5 :D

I can't believe how snappy my VSTi's feel ! It's almost like the old days when I ran all hardware synths on an Amiga..it just feels tight and responsive

The dragging and dropping is great and the whole thing feels very fluid..and not like it's sifting through 30yrs of legacy code in the way that Sonar ( and also Samplitude ) does.

It's taking some getting used to but I've mapped all my shortcuts across so it's starting to feel more like home..and it's never crashed yet !

I've used all kinds of DAW since the late 90's, but I've never found one that helped (and improved) my workflow like Studio One. I had it sitting on my PC for over a year before I began using it because I didn't want to spend a lot of time learning a new system, but I was really surprised how easy the learning curve was.

I've tried playing around with a few other DAW since but I always come back to Studio One.

Interesting thread - hopefully S1 is a good choice for a brand-new, never-used-a-DAW-before... to start to learn as my 2018 New Year's resolution;
to try making my own music at home. :? :shock: :o A scary thought for a little Old-Guy.

Thanks for that. I bought StudioOne Pro at the end of the year to take advantage of the crossgrade offer. I haven't loaded it yet. In my case the DAW change triggers other changes I have to make, so I plan to do it over time this year

Does anyone have opinions on the recent Bandlab acquisition of Sonar "intellectual property"?

I'll be interested to see where it goes. The owner is the son of Billionaire who didn't want to go into the family business.

It's good that they have Noel Borthwick and some of the other staff on board
